  • About Techstrav

Techstravaganza is a free, hands-on STEM activity fair open to the public, attracting thousands of visitors from the DMV area each year. This past year, we had over 5000 visitors from over 192 different schools. Each year, we have over 300 TJ student volunteers and over a dozen exhibiting companies who help us make this event possible.

  • Who can attend?

This event is open to children of all ages! However, our labs do specifically target elementary and middle school students. Techstravaganza is also a great family event. Not only do the children walk away having learned something new, the parents do too!

  • Why Register?

By registering, we are able to get a better estimate of how many lab materials to prepare for the day. In addition, this signs you up for our email list so we can send out notifications regarding logistics. We also use EventBrite to check in visitors so this helps speed up the sign-in process. Lastly, we want this event to be accessible to everyone, so tickets are free!

  • Who runs it?

Tomorrow's Women in Science and Technology (TWIST) organizes the event and is a student-run STEM outreach organization at TJHSST. Our mission is to encourage students from diverse and low-income backgrounds to pursue STEM subjects. We aim to increase female enrollment in traditionally underrepresented TJ research labs by empowering girls within our school community to pursue careers in these fields.

  • Why come?

At Techstravaganza, you will find over 50 different labs and demonstrations that cover a wide range of STEM concepts so there is something for everyone! Some of our most popular labs include Banana DNA, Making Ice Cream, and Stomp Rockets!
